My family and I went to Tanjung Ria for dinner during the CNY holidays. They were serving the Chinese menu. I can't comment about other places' buffet, but I can vouch for Tanjung Ria. The food they served worth your penny. I highly recommend the Oxtail Asam Pedas (I forgot to take the photo). Tanjung Ria knows its game.

This restaurant, located within Hyatt Regency Hotel Kinabalu, is a very nice place to dine in. The location is very good and the view of the bay is excellent. The decor is nice. The restaurant is very spacious. The buffet spread was also quite big. There was Malay, Chinese and Indian cuisine. I sampled a few of the dishes. The steamed fish was great. The roasted chicken was also good.

We went to the dinner buffet on a Monday night, they were featuring Mexican cuisine during early November and the dishes are very presentable and appetising. The usual cuisines are Malay, Indian, Chinese and there are areas for salad section, cold plates, bread, dessert and lots of choices for condiments and sauces. We’ve tried the satay, chicken satay was flavourful and tender, however the beef satay was very hard and chewy. I find that they serve many different curries as well. Staffs are very attentive, our cups were never empty and plates were always cleared. They are also always checking on guests and the presentation of the foods. Overall my family and I enjoyed the buffet dinner. I think the main concern is that the selection of foods are quite limited. Maybe it is because we dined on a weekday night and they may have more foods on weekend?

Love the breakfast buffet here, lots of asian varieties (Chinese, Indian, malay, Korean, japanese). Hotel guests only pay RM40 so it's very worth it! Atmosphere was also nice, restaurant was nicely decorated. One disappointment though, we asked about the breakfast menu option the night before and was told there was satay, but they didn't have that in the morning.
